Hilot, the Filipino healing touch
Long before spas, there was the manghihilot — the one in the barangay people went to when a body was out of balance. Hilot reads the body with the hands, then works with warmth: virgin coconut oil, banana leaf passed over a flame, and patient, flowing strokes.
Our hilot is taught the old way, by practitioners, and done with the same respect.
